The Marion/Florence FFA Chapter organized and constructed a booth showcasing agriculture in Marion County for the Kansas State Fair County Collective booth competition.
Crops, grasses, fruits and vegetables are displayed in collective booths that are scored according to the variety and quality of the commodities which are shown.
The booth from Marion County displayed 60 different samples and placed fourth in the competition this year. It is displayed in the Kansas Showcase building across from the Bison Arena at the state fairgrounds.
Organizing a booth requires help from many people as crop and garden samples are obtained from local producers in the county, according to Mark Meyer, adviser.
Producers who helped this year included Kenny Funk, Jirak Brothers Produce, Gary Evans, Leonard Hein, Duane Kirkpatrick, Jason Kruse, Christian Pedersen, Bob and JoAnn Good, Phoebe Janzen, Randy Svitak, Marty Kroupa, Jeff and Dee Herzet, Gary Stuchlik, Rickey Roberts and Cooperative Grain & Supply.
FFA members Clint Kroupa, Lauren McLinden, Nick Meyer and Elizabeth Meyer helped to set up the booth.
