Students from Marion High School received second place in the South Central District Agriculture Mechanical and Technical Systems Career Development Event on Tuesday, April 11, at McPherson High School.
The theme of the contest was material-handling systems. Contestants were required to complete several tests and practicums over related activities. Activities included reading and interpreting electrical wiring diagrams, identifying parts and troubleshooting a skid steer loader, completing a mig welding exercise, a small engine measuring and tool ID exercise, a written test, and a team activity which involved a sprayer.
Individually for Marion, Cade Harms placed fifth, with the rest of the team placing in the top 15 percent to receive the second-place overall place.
Other team members competing for Marion were Ryan Cochran, Jeremy Hett, Bryce Shults, Dan Hinton, Antone Vinduska and Cameron Steward.
