Marion FFA scores well at CDE contests on dairy and horses

Members of the Marion-Florence FFA Chapter competed in two South Central District FFA career development events for dairy cows and horses Nov. 22.

The contests were hosted by the Hillsboro FFA Chapter at the Marion County Fairgrounds.

Marion-Florence received first place in the Greenhand division at the dairy event.

Contest participants were required to evaluate and place six classes of dairy cows and heifers. They also had to prepare and present a set of oral reasons as well.

Individually for Marion, Nicholas Meyer placed second, Alicia Maloney placed sixth and Lauren McLinden placed ninth.

Members from Marion?s first-place Greenhand team were Clint Kroupa, Katey Ehrlich, McLinden and Meyer.

Other individuals competing in the Greenhand division from Marion included Jordan Laurin, Caitlyn Maloney, Kelli Hess, Abbey Smith, Amanda Stuchlik, Kaitlyn Frese, Taylor Heide?brecht, Grif Case, Lance Knolla, James Jones and Timothy Knolla.

Marion-Florence FFA placed fourth in the Greenhand division of the horse evaluation career development event.

Participants in the contest were required to evaluate six classes of horses and present one set of oral reasons.

Individually for Marion, Caitlin Maloney placed seventh overall in the greenhand division. Other team members competing included Alicia Maloney, McLinden and Meyer.
