Marion FFA announces awards

The Marion-Florence FFA Chapter conducted its Parent-Member-Employer Banquet at the Marion High School cafeteria Thursday, April 28. Members were recognized for their activities during the year and were presented numerous awards.

Adam Cope received the Chapter Star in Placement award and Nicholas Meyer was recognized as the Star Chapter Greenhand.

Krystal Mosher was named an honorary chapter FFA degree recipient during the banquet.

Jeff Cather, the current state FFA sentinel, was the featured speaker for the evening. The chapter presented a PowerPoint slide show of the year?s highlights after the meal.

More than 130 members and guests attended the banquet.

The chapter presented the following production proficiency awards:

? Grain (Entre?pre?neurship division): Clark Kroupa.

? Beef (Place?ment division): Adam Cope.

? Swine (Place?ment division): Shayla Rahe.

? Diversified Ag (Placement division): Clint Kroupa.

? Forage (Placement division): Jacob Cope.

? Wildlife Management (Place?ment division): Chris?tian Larson.

? Specialty Animal (Entre?pre?neurship division): Alicia Maloney.

? Diversified Livestock (Entre?preneurship division): Nicholas Meyer.

? Sheep: (Entrepreneurship division): Nicholas Meyer.

? Poultry (Entrepreneurship division) Nicholas Meyer.

? Home or Community Development (Placement division): Derrick Dvorak.

Several other chapter awards were presented:

? Chapter Sweepstakes: first Nicholas Meyer; second Clint Kroupa; third Jacob Cope.

? Greenhand Recordkeeping: Lauren McLinden.

? Star Chapter Greenhand: Nicholas Meyer.

? Star Chapter Agribusiness?man: Adam Cope.

The 2011-12 chapter officers will be Jessie Taylor, president; Caitlyn Maloney, reporter; Jacob Cope, vice president; Nicholas Meyer, treasurer; Derrick Dvorak, secretary; Clark Kroupa, sentinel; Aaron Molleker, parliamentarian.

The FFA chapter also presented appreciation certificates to Straub International, Prairie?land Partners Inc., Robin Taylor, Hillsboro Industries, Cindi Ragland, Cooperative Grain & Supply, Pat Ash, Carlson?s Grocery and Gambino?s Pizza for their assistance to the chapter during the year.
