Each month, from September through May, said Rod Garman, principal, students in kindergarten through sixth grade are selected for outstanding behavior and effort. ?Students of the Month? also receive free items from various sponsors to include: gift certificates to Carlson?s Grocery Store (free movie rental), Casey?s General Store (free pizza slice), Ampride (free candy bar), The Big Scoop (free ice cream cone), USD 408 (free three-person swim), and Sherbowl Lanes($1 off open bowling). ?The criteria used by the classroom teachers include being responsible, respectful and doing their best,? he said.
