Long-time educators to reminisce at LIR

?Ring the Bell, Light the Fire? is the title of the March 28 Learning in Retirement program on the Tabor College campus.

The program will feature a panel of long-time educators sharing their classroom experiences and how they changed through the years.

Panelists will include Jona Baltzer, Marilyn Jost, Herb Richert and Helen Schmidt. Donna Bagley, professor and chair of the Tabor College Education department, will moderate the session.

Those attending the session will hear from these experienced teachers as they share information about their careers, including background on the variety of classroom arrangements and courses taught, incorporating innovation into the lessons, discipline challenges and the joys of hearing from former students.

Meeting regularly through the semester, Learning in Retirement is an opportunity for seniors to gather and learning more about a variety of topics, according to program director Connie Isaac.

The program begins at 9:45 a.m. in the lobby of the Wohlgemuth Music Education Center on the Hillsboro campus.

Fees are $4 per session or $15 per semester ($29 per couple) payable at the door. Registration allows for optional lunch at discount in the cafeteria after the session.

The next LIR program is planned for Monday, April 4, and will feature Elizabeth Kliewer Black discussing the impact of the Dust Bowl
