Locals attend Sampler Festival

Representatives from Marion County were among the 125 communities that participated in the 25th Kansas Sampler Festival May 3-4 in Wamego.

A record 11,676 visitors, attended the two day event. The festival featured tourism booths, Kansas products, historic performers, musicians, and food vendors.

Representing the local area were Teresa Huffman, Marion County economic development director represented Marion County with volunteers, Ken and Tena Lundgren, Marion, and Mike and Sue Watkins, Hillsboro.

Wamego will host the festival again in 2015. A project of the Inman-based Kansas Sampler Founda?tion, the event was held on the Penner Farm near Inman from 1990-1997. Since then it has been held in Pratt, Ottawa, Indepen?dence, Newton, Garden City, Concordia, Leavenworth, and Liberal.
