Local magnolia breaks forth with rare seeds


Bob Jost stands near the magnolia tree planted in the front yard of the duplex he and wife Irene live in at 101 E. B in Hillsboro. The tree is one of the few magnolia trees to produce seeds this year (see inset), according to local horticulturalists. Magnolia trees were introduced to the state by Kansas State University growers several years ago.
