Ressler said. ?She is hard-working, is able to pay attention to many details and has a great vision for adult and graduate education.?
Since 2001, Leiker has worked for Tabor College Wichita, serving in the areas of director of the nursing program as instructor of nursing, assistant professor of nursing, interim chair of nursing, chair of the nursing department and most recently as interim director of Adult Professional Studies.
?Tona will be able to move us forward immediately with programming ideas because of her involvement with both TCW and Hillsboro campuses and her widespread connections across Kansas,? Ressler said. ?We have been very fortunate to have someone of Tona?s caliber as the director of the nursing program, and I am certain we will see her professional and visionary style bring excellence to the other programs that we currently offer.?
In her new position, Leiker plans to grow the enrollment and expand degree offerings for adults at Tabor College, while continuing to meet the educational needs of the current adult student population.
?The college?s leadership, President (Larry) Nikkel and the board of directors? decision, based on the recommendation of President Nikkel, positions us to create dynamic and flexible academic offerings in central Kansas,? Leiker said.
?My vision for the school is to meet the educational needs of adults desiring a certificate or degree within a private, decidedly Christian environment.?
