Kaleb Dailey receives 2011 Ruth Ann Carlson Scholarship

Kaleb Dailey, a graduating senior at Canton-Galva High School, is the 2011 recipient of the $500 Ruth Ann Carlson Scholarship, which was presented by Nancy Pihl and Lyman Adams on behalf of the Marion County 4-H Development Fund. Dailey is a 10-year member of the Goessel Goal Getters 4-H Club, where he participated in dairy goat, woodworking and leadership projects. Dailey, son of Don and Laura Dailey, plans to study software design at Kansas State University. The Marion County 4-H Development Fund is a not-for-profit organization formed in 2001 for the financial support of county 4-H youth in the form of scholarships for 4-H camp and higher education. The scholarship recently was re-named for Ruth Ann Carlson, who was one of the original group of people who formed the Development Fund in 2001 and has served many years on the board of directors. For more than 40 years, Carlson has been serving as a club leader for the Lincolnville Wide Awake 4-H Club, and as a leader for many different 4-H projects. She has been active in county-wide 4-H events and as a representative on the 4-H Council.
