HMHS to present ‘Arsenic and Old Lace’

Written by Joseph Kesselring, “Arsenic and Old Lace” is a dark comedy filled with humor, a dash of romance and several dead bodies.

The show revolves around the Brewster family during the course of one night in their Brooklyn home. Mortimer Brewster discovers a dark secret about his kind, sweet, loving aunts Abby and Martha. He must then figure out a way to protect them and his brother, Teddy, while keeping his girlfriend and a slew of police officers from discovering the truth.

According to director Leah Rose, the three-act show will run close to two hours and 30 minutes with intermissions.

“We will have a 10-minute intermission after Act I and a three to five minute intermission after Act II,” she said. “During the first intermission, we will have refreshments available by donation.”

Dr. Harper; Erik Torres as Officer Bro­phyl Cayley Settle as Officer Klein; Trinity Malm as Lieutenant Roony; Abby Driggers as Ms. Wither­spoon; and Samuel Damon as Mr. Gibbs.

General admission is $5. Tickets can be purchased at the door or at playticketsales­
