Hillsboro Middle/High School will present “Arsenic and Old Lace” as its spring production at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the school auditorium.
Written by Joseph Kesselring, “Arsenic and Old Lace” is a dark comedy filled with humor, a dash of romance and several dead bodies.
The show revolves around the Brewster family during the course of one night in their Brooklyn home. Mortimer Brewster discovers a dark secret about his kind, sweet, loving aunts Abby and Martha. He must then figure out a way to protect them and his brother, Teddy, while keeping his girlfriend and a slew of police officers from discovering the truth.
According to director Leah Rose, the three-act show will run close to two hours and 30 minutes with intermissions.
“We will have a 10-minute intermission after Act I and a three to five minute intermission after Act II,” she said. “During the first intermission, we will have refreshments available by donation.”
The cast: Madi Sheppard as Abby Brewster; Kayla Gunn as Martha Brewster; Colin Settle as Mortimer Brewster; Jenna Hinerman as Elaine Harper; Dylan Wiens as Teddy Brewster; Sonja Jost as Jonathan Brewster; Dakota Klein as Dr. Einstein; Callie Arnold as Officer O’Hara; Collin Brown as Rev. Dr. Harper; Erik Torres as Officer Brophyl Cayley Settle as Officer Klein; Trinity Malm as Lieutenant Roony; Abby Driggers as Ms. Witherspoon; and Samuel Damon as Mr. Gibbs.
