Hillsboro School Board approves vehicle purchases

The USD 410 Board met on Monday, Aug 12.

Hillsboro students will have two new vehicles for school activities this fall. Hillsboro school board members approved the purchase of a new 72-passenger bus for $117,597 and a Ford transit 10-passenger van for $34,365 at the August 12 meeting. The van will be purchased locally from Hillsboro Ford while the bus from Kansas Truck and Equipment Company, Inc.

Parents are encouraged to provide the schools with proof of two new required immunizations. Superintendent Max Heinrichs said that while many families have shared the information, there was a significant number who hadn’t.

New hires included preschool family advocate Cindy Ziesemer, elementary school Title I aide Ann Holt and custodian Doug Cole, middle school assistant football coaches Doug Dick and Mitch DeFiesta, and boys’ basketball coach David Loewen Sr.

The proposed 2019-20 budget was approved with no increase in mill levies.

A baseball cooperative agreement was approved with Peabody-Burns school.
