Hillsboro High musicians post high marks at league festival

Hillsboro High School vocal and band students participated in the Central Kansas League Festival Wednesday, March 9.

In the vocal division, the following groups received a ?I? rating: Concert Choir, Men?s Glee, Women?s Glee, Spirit-N-Celebration, S-N-C Women and S-N-C Men.

The Mixed Ensemble and Women?s Ensemble each received a ?II.?

The following solists received a ?I? rating: Amy Ker?sten, Ryan Stepanek, Caleb Rempel, Jazmene May, Chloe Pankratz, Taytum Miller, Colin Settle, Vance Klassen, Lydia Kliewer, Madi Sheppard and Grace Major.

Anna Glanzer, Breanna Dittert, Brodie Rathbone and Jenna Hinerman each received a ?II? rating, while Sonja Jost and Kayla Gunn received a ?III.?

The band received a ?I? rating, as did the Mix Winds Trio (Marah Franz, Allison Gray, Kennedy Klein).

Also receiving a ?I? rating were Allison Gray for her horn solo and Kennedy Klein for her flute solo.

Instrumental groups receiving a ?II? rating included the Saxo?phone Trio (Sarah Diener, Grace Major, Ellian Weisbeck), the Clarinet Trio I (Erika Bichet, Marah Franz, Hannah Funk) and the Clarinet Trio II (Amanda Bartel, Shelby Johnson, Ellian Weisbeck).

The next competition for these students will be at regionals April 2.
