Hillsboro Chess Guild competes in two tournaments

The team traveled to St. Francis of Assisi in Wichita Nov. 9, where Hillsboro won the kindergarten to eighth-grade division.

Receiving individual trophies were: Tristan Rath?bone, 14th in the K-5 division; Jacob Denholm third, Abigail Fryhover ninth and Alex Lubbers 18th in the K-8 division.

In the K-12 division, Jordan Fryhover placed seventh overall, Matthew Den?holm ninth and Franklin Jost 18th.

Also competing for Hills?boro were Zachary Denholm in K-5, Kayla Gunn in K-8 and Jonathan Hinerman and Kalen Moss in K-12.

A week earlier, the Tro?jans competed at Canton-Galva, where Hillsboro placed third in both the K-8 and K-12 divisions.

Earning individual medals were: Jacob Den?holm third, Abigail Fry?hover 16th and Alex Lubbers 17th in the K-8 division.

In K-12, Jordan Fryhover placed third and Matthew Denholm sixth.

Also competing for Hills?boro was Kayla Gunn in K-8.
