Hiebert prepares senior recital for March 18

Elise Hiebert, a senior music major with an emphasis in vocal performance from Bakersfield, Calif., will present her senior voice recital at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 18 in the Tabor College Chapel-Auditorium.

Hiebert, who will perform works by Hoiby, Debussy, Schubert and Marcello, is the student of Holly Swartzendruber, assistant professor of voice.

?For a senior recital, one must show a wide variety of pieces that include different eras such as the Baroque, Classical and Romantic eras, and also different languages such as German, French and Italian,? Hiebert said.

Hiebert chose to major in music because music is her passion. ?I can?t entertain the idea of majoring in anything else,? she said.

After graduation, Hiebert plans to move to Fresno, Calif., with her husband, Justin, who plans to attend the Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary.

?I have some aspirations to get a masters degree in vocal performance at Fresno State after this year off,? she said. ?I have also considered taking some seminary classes.?
