HHS thespians earn eight Jester Award nominations

Hillsboro High School students and staff received eight nominations for Jester Awards through Music Theatre of Wichita for the fall musical, ?Annie Get Your Gun.?

Jester Awards are intended to recognize the talents involved in creating high school musicals in south-central Kansas.

Teams of local judges evaluated 32 south-central Kansas productions this year, which were submitted by 30 different schools.

Receiving nominations for ?Annie Get Your Gun? were the following: Jessica Elliott for Outstanding Lead Actress; Michael Klaassen for Out?standing Playbill; Kelsey Bartel and Shelby Koons for Outstand?ing Lights; the cast for Outstand?ing Ensemble; Glanzer Pro Audio for Outstanding Sound; Terry Bebermeyer for Outstand?ing Scenic Design and for Outstanding Costumes; and Lynn Just for Outstanding Direction.

This year?s Jester Awards will be announced Friday evening, May 22, at the Mary Jane Teall Theatre in Century II. Awards will be given in 23 categories, and a selection of musical highlights from some of the nominated shows will be performed.

The event is open to the public. Admission costs $10 and tickets are available by calling the Music Theatre box office at 316-265-3107.
