HHS senior among NMS semifinalists

Hillsboro High School senior Erin Wiebe has been named a semifinalist in the 2014 National Merit Scholar?ship program and will compete for the $45 million in about 8,000 National Merit scholarships that will be offered next spring.
About 1.5 million juniors in more than 22,000 high schools entered the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2012 preliminary SAT.
The nationwide pool of 16,000 semifinalists represents less than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors and includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.
About 15,000 will advance to the finalist level in Feb?ruary. Scholarship winners will be announced in April through July 2014.
Wiebe is the daughter of Glen and Maura Wiebe.
