HHS scholars go 4-1 at Sterling meet

The Hillsboro High School Scholars Bowl team went 4-1 in an 18-school meet Saturday, Nov. 29, at Sterling.

In pool play, Hillsboro defeated Nickerson 50-20, lost to Ellsworth 60-55, then defeated Moundridge 70-30, Stafford 40-30 and Claflin 30-25.

With only one team from each of the four pools qualifying for the championship bracket, the five-point loss to Ellsworth cost the Trojans a chance to compete for the meet title.

?Once again the team almost made the final four out of the 18 schools that competed at this meet,? said coach Stuart Holmes. ?If the team stays this competitive, it will medal some more this year.?

Competing for HHS were Matthew Brown, Cody Blackketter, Ben Bosworth and Becky Steketee.
