HHS music students earn a place at state contest

Hillsboro High vocalists and instrumentalists competed at the Regional Solo and Ensemble Festival at Tabor College Satur?day.

The ensembles and solos that received ?I? ratings will compete in the state festival Saturday, April 24, at Southeast of Saline.

Ensembles receiving a ?I? were Sophomore Girls? Ensemble, Spirit-N-Celebration, SNC Women and SNC Men.

Vocal soloists receiving the top rating were Brenna Black?ketter, Dylan Delk, Saman?tha Ens, Elise Heyen, Evan Just, Olivia Kliewer, Luke Moore, Hayley Pankratz, Krista Reimer, Manda Roble, Nathan Vogel and Carly Weisbeck.

Two instrumental groups received a ?I?: Brass Trio and Brass Ensemble.

Matthew Wiebe (trumpet) was the lone instrumentalist to receive a the top rating.

Two vocal groups receiving a ?II? rating were: Freshman/ Sophomore Mixed Ensemble, Senior Mixed Ensemble.

Vocal soloists with a ?II? were Amy Bartel, Ashley Bartel, Tyler Burst, Nick Ediger, Erika Just, Sammy Koons, Matt Richert and Matthew Wiebe.

Instrumentalists receiving a ?II? were Max Bertinchamp (saxophone), Flute Ensemble, Saxo?phone Ensemble and Clarinet Ensemble.

The band entries were directed by Gregg Walker, the vocal entries by Lynn Just and Brad Vogel.
