HHS music students compete at regional contest for state berths

Several Hillsboro High School ensembles and soloists qualified for the State Solo and Small Ensemble Music Festival at Southeast of Saline High School Saturday, April 30.

Students who received a ?1? rating qualified for the state festival.

The qualifying ensembles were: Spirit-N-Celebration, SNC girls, SNC boys and the Girls Ensemble, which includes Ashley Bartel, Danae Bina, Ali Blazek, Hannah Bostic, Lindsey Brazil, Mor?ganne Hamm, Kianna Hiner?man, Erika Just, Kate Litchfield, Erin Loewen, Katie Pritchard, Madison Ricks, Karina Torres, Erin Wiebe and Molly Wiebe.

Vocal solos qualifying for state were performed by Dylan Delk, Harry Faber, Tyler Funk, Elise Heyen, Jacob Humber, Daniel Kenney, Olivia Kliewer, Daniel Nelson, Luke Moore, Hayley Pankratz and Matthew Wiebe.

The HHS band received a ?1? as did Matt Wiebe for a trumpet solo, and a trumpet trio consisting of Wiebe, Nick Ediger and Erika Just.

Receiving a ?2? rating at the regional contest were Scott Brazil, Nick Ediger, Erika Just, Josh Wiebe and Molly Wiebe.
