HHS, MHS musicians perform at state venue

Several music students from Hillsboro and Marion schools participated in state events the last weekend of February.

Both schools had representatives at the Kansas Music Educators Association annual convention in Wichita.

Two Hillsboro High School sophomores, Olivia Kliewer and Brenna Blackketter, sang in the the KMEA All-State Honor Choir Feb. 27.

Freshman Erin Loewen sang in the KMEA Middle Level Honor Choir Feb. 26.

Junior Elise Heyen received a ?I? rating at the State Piano Festival.

From Marion, Jennifer Fruechting performed at the KMEA event with the Kansas Choral Directors Association State Treble Choir Friday; she was chosen by audition last fall.

Landon Leiker and Sarah Gutersloh performed Saturday as members of KMEA?s Class 4-3-2-1A State Band. Following their auditions, Leiker was chosen first-chair trumpet, and Gutersloh was chosen as third-chair trombone.
