HHS FFA competes in dairy

The Hillsboro FFA chapter hosted the South Central District Dairy Cattle Judging career development event Nov. 19.

The event consisted of six classes of dairy cows and heifers that contestants evaluated and placed. Contestants also took an exam covering dairy information.

Classes were supplied by area operators Doyle Jost, Ivan Schmidt and Klassen Dairy.

Participating from the Hillsboro chapter in the senior division were Brandon Brown, John Hein, Brea Allen, Jacob Fish, Alex Jost and Neal Kaiser.

Participating in the Greenhand division were Dylan Delk, Ethan Frantz, Landon Herbel and Darren Mueller.

Both teams placed second in their divisions. Brown placed fifth, Jost was sixth and Allen was ninth. In the Greenhand division Mueller placed second and Frantz fourth.

Hillsboro FFA also competed in the Dairy Foods CDE hosted by the Goessel FFA Chapter. Participating in the senior division were Andy Klassen, Brown, Jost, Fish and Allen.

Participating in the Greenhand division were Delk, Frantz, Herbel and Mueller.

The senior team placed seventh overall. In the Greenhand division, Herbel was fifth overall and the team placed fourth.
