The Hillsboro High School Band had a successful performance at the World?s of Fun Band Contest Sunday, May 3, according to Gregg Walker, director.
?They received ?Excellent? ratings from all three judges with schools from five different states participated,? he said.
Walker said he was grateful for those who supported the band this year so they could attend the contest, including sponsors Robin Allen, Rhonda Toal and Rhonda Wiens and bus driver Skye Young.
?Besides the band contest,? he said, ?the students were able to go to the Kansas City Zoo, Cabela?s, American Jazz Museum and eat at some great places.?
Walker said the percussion ensemble receiving a ?I? rating. Those students were Clay Shewey, J. Michael Hiebert, Jordan Riggs, Elise Heyen, Cory Abbott.
Matthew Wiebe received a ?I? for his trumpet solo, and Sara Jones received a ?II? for her flute solo.
