The Hillsboro Elementary School library will host another Scholastic Book Fair and Family Reading Night beginning this week.
The book fair itself will be open from Thursday, March 9, through Wednesday, March 15.
Starting March 3, patrons can visit the HES online book fair by going to scholastic.com/bf/hillsboroelementaryschool. The online fair will continue through March 23.
Related events include a “Principal Challenge” where students are encouraged to bring loose change and bills to the library.
“If the money collected exceeds $200, we will duct tape Mr. (Evan) Yoder to the wall,” said Sandy Arnold, librarian. “One foot of duct tape costs $1. The money will be used to purchase books for the library. Scholastic will then match the amount in books to donate to children in need.”
Family Reading Night will be from 6:15-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 14 .
“It’ll be a heroic night of stories, prizes, laughs and family fun,” Arnold said. “Special guest appearances include Martha, HES teachers and staff, the voice of HHS senior Vance Klassen, and your very own Staff Infection band.”
Prior to going to the book fair, the public can support the cause by having dinner at the Hillsboro Wendy’s from 4-7 p.m. Twenty percent of the sales will be donated to the library.
