Goessel?s robotics team took fourth in the expert division at the 2009 Wichita State University Mindstorms competition last week. |
Goessel?s Junior High robotics team was one of 38 teams participating in the 2009 Wichita State University Mindstorms competition Feb. 21.
The Mindstorms competition, for students through age 14, combines math, logic, time management, creative problem solving, teamwork, sportsmanship, communications, patience and perseverance. This year?s theme was ?Myths & Legends.?
Student participants included Erin Brubaker, Heath Goertzen, Lucas Hiebert, Dane Kruger, Arik Schmidt, Mark Schmidt, Keenan Stultz, Ben Wiens, Aaron Woelk and Garrett Woelk.
Goessel finished fourth in the expert division. The expert division competition included scoring in five of six missions as well as an oral presentation and a table/notebook display.
Goessel was high scorer in the ?Reach for the Stars? mission and received a judge?s choice trophy in the ?Loch Ness? mission.
Coaches were Sherri Sells, Marion County Extended Learning Program coordinator, and Karl Brubaker, parent.
