Goessel BBQ set for May 14

The Goessel Music Depart?ment will offer its annual community barbecue and concert at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at the Goessel High School cafeteria.

The concert begins at 6:45 p.m. in the auditorium. There is no charge for the event, but donations will be accepted.

Net proceeds from the event will go toward the travel fund of the GHS band and choir, said Mike Connell, band director.

?This fund helps send the band and choir to out-of-state music festivals planned for next spring,? he said. ?All materials for the barbecue dinner are donated by various businesses and community people throughout the Goessel area.?

Served to more than 400 people each year, the menu consists of pork burgers, baked beans, chips, cookies and drinks.

The GHS band and choir will perform their 2009 State Music Festival selections. Both groups treceived all ?Superior? ratings at the State Large Group Festival last month.

Also featured at the concert will be the fifth-grade band, middle school band and choir, high school boyss and girls? chorus and the Elbiata singers.
