Early greening is for St. Patrick?s Day

Three Hillsboro High School students were preparing for St. Patrick?s Day Saturday by hanging shamrocks on a tree in the front yard of the David and Joanne Loewen family home at 116 S. Wilson, Hillsboro. Emma Heyen (in the tree), Tena Loewen (foreground) and Elise Heyen, took advantage of the 40-degree temperature by ?greening? up the neighborhood. Loewen said her grandfather, Ralph Popp of Marion, made about 20 of the wooden shamrocks but also has carved Easter eggs, Valentine?s Day hearts and more.
