Deadline nears for all-school reunion signup

Hillsboro High School alumni have until the May 15 deadline to register in advance for the 2015 HHS All-School Reunion planned for Saturday, May 23.

The featured banquet meal and program will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Hills?boro Men?no?nite Breth?ren Church, 300 Prairie Pointe. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Retired teachers to be honored that evening are Don Penner, industrial arts instructor and football and track and field coach for more than four decades; Carolyn Penner, who taught English and was employed by the district for more than 30 years; and Bob Sextro, HHS math teacher and coach from 1967 to 1995.

The cost of the banquet is $25 by May 15, or $30 at the door. Checks should be payable to the HHS Alumni Associa?tion, c/o Hillsboro State Bank, P.O. Box 158, Hillsboro, KS 67063.

Earlier in the day, the physically active crowd can compete in one of two outdoor events.

First is the second annual four-person scramble golf tournament that will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. at the local golf course.

The entry fee is $160 per team or $40 per individual. For more details email doug.dick@usd410.net.

A 5-kilometer run/walk is planned with a 9 a.m. start. Participants will meet at the high school. The entry fee is $20 before May 15 and $25 after that. The entry fee includes a T-shirt if registered by May 15.

Proceeds from both events will support the Hillsboro Community Foun?dation Early Childhood Fund.
