Participants in the 2009 Marion County Spelling Bee last Wednesday pose for a group shot following the competition. The best spellers from the elementary and middle schools at Centre, Goessel, Hillsboro, Marion and Peabody-Burns competed for the championship. Monica Spachek of Marion Middle School ultimately prevailed. It took her less than one hour to secure a place in the regional spelling bee that will be March 14 at Great Bend.
