Head Start programs in Marion, Harvey and McPherson counties received $1,000 each from the sale of cookbooks sponsored by The Citizens State Bank.
?More than 450 recipes were contributed by employees, customers and friends from all over the U.S.,? said Debbie Pierce, vice-president and branch manager in McPherson and Newton.
A total of 550 cookbooks were sold through nine branch locations in Canton, Moundridge, Goessel, Hesston, McPherson and Newton, she said.
The idea originated during the holiday season with all proceeds going to Head Start, she said.
The cookbook drive started in December and ran through February.
Pierce visited the Marion and Hillsboro Head Start programs in mid-March to present the check.
