COLLEGE NEWS (May 24, 2015)

• Kathryn Erica Bolstad of Hillsboro was among the first cohort of 17 nursing students to receive a four-year bachelor of science degree in nursing at Hesston College May 14. It marked the college’s first granting of bachelors degrees in 60 years.

• Grant Flaming, a senior program major from Hillsboro and a graduate of Goessel High School, was recognized on the spring semester Dean’s List at Goshen (Ind.) College. The Dean’s List requires a GPA of at least 3.75 while completing at least 12 hours of graded course work.

• Megan Jirak, a sophomore at Barton Community College, was named an Ambassador of the Year for 2016-17. The award is presented to students who go beyond the call of duty in assisting the admissions office. Jirak, daughter of Jeff and Tammy Jirak of Marion, plans to attend Kansas State Uni­ver­sity this fall to pursue her bachelor’s degree in animal science.

• Hannah M. Bostic and Graham B. Pankratz, both of Hillsboro, were named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at MidAmerica Nazarene University, Olathe. The Dean’s List requires a grade-point average of 3.5 to 3.99 for 12 semester hours or more.
