CHS students work toward winter sale for poinsettias on Saturday

Centre High School horticulture students Jayden Hallowell and Alex Barlow check the different poinsettias to see if they need water or not. All of their hard work that the students have invested can be seen at an open house and winter sale at the school from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 3. The students have grown three different colors of poinsettias. “They would love to have everyone come out and take look and would love for you to take some home with you,” said Jon Meyer, ag education instructor. “These students have put in lots of time to learn how to grow different plants in a greenhouse. They have put hours of hard work into taking what they have learned in the classroom to grow poinsettias for our winter sale.” Meyer said students have taken care of watering and spacing of pots, and have determined what will help their plants grow the best.
