The two members of the school?s National Honor Society chapter organized a school-wide competition to see which class could raise the most money for UNICEF, an organization that aids education and the health of children and mothers in developing countries. Under fundraiser rules, each member from the winning class would have the opportunity to throw a pie in the faces of the two girls. Classes raised money during the week of Halloween, gathering a total of $430. The nine students in the winning class of sixth graders each threw
a pie at Makovec and Dienes during a school-wide assembly Nov. 26 (top photo). ?Kids were cheering and laughing,? Dienes said. ?Even after the Thanks?giving break the elementary students were still talking about the pie throw.?
