Centre physical ed and musical night will mark Wiles? retirement

Centre Elementary School is having its physical education and musical production, ?Our Greatest Hits,? at 7 p.m. Friday, May 8, in the Centre High School gymnasium.

The event will feature kindergarten through sixth-grade students with Lynley Remy, music instructor, and Stan Wiles, physical education teacher, coordinating.

?This is the 10th year for Stan Wiles and Lynley Remy to collaborate and present what has become a highly anticipated event,? school officials said. ?At the end of this year Mr. Wiles will retire and Mrs. Remy will be moving to a full-time band and choir position at CHS.?

Because of the changes, Remy and Wiles are doing favorite songs and activities from the past 10 years and are calling it, ?Our Greatest Hits.?

Physical education activities include the kindergartners doing the beanie bag dance; first- and second-graders, a parachute routine; third-grade students the hula hoop relay; fourth-graders will be space nvaders; fifth-graders are having a monster ball and sixth-graders will do a spot shot.

Kindergarten through fourth-grade musical numbers include ?Jeepers Creepers,? ?The Muppet Show Theme,? ?The Yellow Submarine,? ?Do-Re-Mi,? ?American Know-How,? ?Gone Forever,? ?The Marvelous Toy,? ?Tomorrow? and ?The Mickey Mouse March.?

Fifth- and sixth-graders will perform ?Heart and Soul,? ?Downtown? and ?The Swing? as their musical choices.

The program, officials said, will conclude with a song dedicated to Wiles titled, ?When It?s Time to Say Good-Bye.?

The event is open to the public. For more information, call 785-983-4304.
