Centre FFAers compete in meats contest

Five Centre FFA members traveled to Kiowa to participate in the South Central District FFA Meats Evaluation Career Development Event.

Members competing were Cole Srajer, Greg Oborny, Austin Peterson, Payton Harms and Davi Salgado.

In this contest individuals had to identify different retail cuts from beef, pork or lamb species. They also judged two different classes of animal carcasses and decided which would yield more meat and be the best quality.

Members also yield and quality graded beef carcasses and took a test over the meat industry. The team placed seventh in the district and got the chance to learn more about the meat industry through hands on learning.
