Centre FFA brings home state awards

Centre FFA members celebrated another successful State Convention May 29-June 1 in Manhattan.

The Par-Law team finished second in the state with team members Gloria Belton,Kristine Jirak, Tye Remy, Dallas Rosenow, Julie Rziha and Allie Will.

The Leadership Information Team was recognized for its fifth-place finish with team members Julie Rziha in fourth and Nellie Hill in sixth.

Kristine Jirak finished second in the Prepared Public Speaking CDE. NellieHill competed in the Extemporaneous Public Speaking CDE and finished fifth inthe state in the Job Interview CDE.

The chapter finished in the Gold Division of the Student Development Area of the National Chapter Award. They were in the silver division in the Chapterand Community Development areas.

Nine members received their state degrees: Alisha Barney, Andy Carlson, Savannah Forsberg, Kristine Jirak, Alfonse Klenda, Jeremy Kristek, Kevin Mueller, Ryan Richmond and Jo Terwilliger.

Andy Carlson was the state winner of the Home and/or Community Development Proficiency Award for his work on the Lincolnville Community Building.

Kevin Mueller was the state winner of the Dairy Production Placement Proficiency Award for his work on the Mueller Dairy.

Jackie Klenda retired as the 2006-2007 State Treasurer and received a National FFA Scholarship for $1,000.

Advisers Cary Granzow and Gaea Wimmer accompanied the group.
