Centre FFA attends state conference

Centre FFA Chapter officers attended the State Conference for Chapter Leaders July 1-3. SCCL is a camp for chapter officers from all across Kansas held in Rock Springs.

Cailey Barney, treasurer/secretary; Jensen Riffel, vice president; and Tyler Nickel, reporter, attended as representatives of the Centre FFA officer team. They learned more about how to manage their positions and worked on their leadership skills to better their chapter.

Nickel said he learned about the duties of a reporter and worked on his leadership skills.

“I am extremely excited to work with my team and try some new ideas to help better our chapter, community and ourselves,” Nickel said.

Both Barney and Riffel said they benefited from the conference.

“I learned a better understanding on how to grow as a leader and gained a lot of new ideas,” Barney said,

Riffel said, “I met new people and gained new ideas.”

Advisers Laura Klenda and Jon Meyer attended as well. They were a big help and were great support during this event.

Also as part of the conference, the officers, members and advisers attending packaged more than 30,000 meals with “Something to Eat” as a service project, and meals were taken back to their respective communities to be donated to the local food bank.
