Centre High School FFA students were involved in three major group events in recent months.
National FFA convention
Students from Centre FFA traveled to Indianapolis, Ind., to attend the 82nd National FFA Convention, Oct. 18-23.
Members who attended the convention were Makenzie Deines, Grant Srajer, Tanner Peterson, Ty Simons, Katie Remy, Amy Makovec, Yvonne Calvert, Dani Spohn, Jerami Slayden, Tom Oborny, Braden Pagenkopf, Chad Mueller, Karl Riffel, Kevin Lewis and advisers Cary Granzowand Laura Klenda.
Alex Hajek and his brother, Andrew Hajek, flew out to join the group. Alex Hajek was one of the four finalist in the Beef Production Placement Proficiency Award Area, but did not receive the top award.
FFA members also visited local tourist destinations while at convention attractions, including Hunter?s Honey Farm, the National FFA Center, Lady Antebellum Concert and a dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory.
Students attended convention sessions, workshops, career show and competition events.
Petting zoo, Oct. 17
The Centre FFA Chapter hosted a petting zoo for Hering?ton senior citizens Oct. 17.
FFA members talked about their animals and even shared stories of their own about animals they used to have or have raised.
Members attending with their animals included Karl Riffel, who brought two goats, Ellie Miller, Genesis Rudolph and SkylarSullivan, who brought two dogs. Tom Oborny brought chickens and Chad Mueller brought a dairy heifer.

Fishing derby Sept. 18
Centre FFA members hosted a fishing derby on Sept. 18 that drew 26 fishermen to Father Padilla Park in Hering?ton.
Winners in the 6-9-year-old division: most fish, Elizabeth Ore, Matthew Basore, Stacey Keithline and Dalton Bartie; largest fish, Elizabeth Ore and Stacey Keithliene; smallest fish, Mathew Basore. Winners in the 10-12-year-old division: most fish, Shelby Martie; largest fish, Dylan Deines; and smallest fish, Kate Basore.
Also fishing were Chase Lindler, Emily Ore, Josh Miller, Hanson, Samantha Engler, Kolby Ammann, Carrie Roe, Emily Roe, Joshua McEntire, Lelia McEntire, Alaine Bartusik, Tanner Wiggins, Greg Oborny, Cole Srajer, Cameron Clark, Peyton Aedles, Nathaniel Engler, Amber Kahle and Alexa Ammann
