Cast chosen for ‘Pirates of Penzance’

Auditions are completed for the Tabor College homecoming production of ?Pirates of Penzance.? The comic operetta will be presented Thursday, Oct. 14, and will run through Sunday, Oct. 17.

Director Judy Harder and vocal coach and orchestra conductor Brad Vogel have announced the members of the cast for the production.

Set in 1879 England, ?The Pirates of Penzance? introduces 21-year-old Frederic, who is just being released from his apprenticeship to a band of tenderhearted pirates. He meets Mabel, the daughter of Major-General Stanley and the two fall instantly in love.

Frederic soon learns, however, that since he was born on Feb. 29, he technically is only 51?2 years old and so he must serve for another 63 years. Frederic plans his escape in this lighthearted tale of a band of pirates and damsels in distress.

Performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the Tabor College Chapel.?The performance on Sunday, Oct. 17, begins at 2 p.m.
