Candidates chosen for HHS homecoming celebration

The names of candidates for Hillsboro High School homecoming queen and king were announced Thursday afternoon during a assembly. The king candidates are (pictured above, from left) Derek Kelsey, Jesse Allen, Grant Shewey, Luke Moore and Aaron Klassen, and the nominees for queen are Samantha Ens, Amy Bartel, Krista Reimer, Sammy Koons and Courtney Weber. The crowning will take place at 6:30 p.m. prior to the Hillsboro vs. Kingman football game at 7 p.m. The traditional afternoon pep rally will return to downtown Hillsboro after one year at Joel H. Wiens Stadium. The parade of candidates down Main Street is scheduled for 2:20 p.m. with the pep rally to follow around 2:30 p.m. The Trojan After Prom Party committee will host a tailgate meal from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the stadium.
