Peabody-Burns Elementary School put on its annual Safe Kids Camp Wednesday, April 20.

The event is sponsored by the Peabody Emergency Ser?vices and is paid for mostly by donations to the Safe Kids Camp via Peabody State Bank.

Students had the opportunity to participate in many sessions, including Internet safety, weather safety, a 911 simulator, water safety sponsored by the U.S. Corps of Engineers, bike safety, farm safety and Opera?tion Rescue sponsored by the Union Pacific Railroad.

Hot dogs and buns were provided for the event and served by representatives of Atmos Energy.

In the afternoon, students observed a LifeTeam helicopter fly-in and then toured the helicopter and went through a smoke house used to teach students how to escape a smoke-filled room.

Atmos Energy visited with students about gas safety.

The day ended with a group picture, then having principal Ken Parry in a bite suit being apprehended by Dax, the dog from the Marion County canine unit.
