Two Marion County schools were honored by the Music Theatre of Wichita when it distributed its seventh annual Jester Awards during a ceremony May 23 at Century II in Wichita.
The Jester Awards are to honor excellent high school musical theater productions.
Twenty-seven Wichita-area schools entered 29 musicals during the 2007-08 academic year, and 87 awards were presented by co-hosts Wayne Bryan and Shina Ann Morris.
Marion High School?s production of ?Beauty and the Beast? received two awards. Brett Billings received Outstanding Supporting Male Performer and Autumn Hanson received a Jester Award for her costume designs.
Hillsboro High School won 10 Jester Awards for its production of ?Seussical the Musical.? The show won an award for Out?stand??ing Overall Production and Outstanding Ensemble.
Director Lynn Just also received two awards, one for her directing, and another for her set design.
David Vogel was selected for a Jester Award for both his playbill and graphic design and for Outstanding Leading Male Performer.
Maria Loewen was honored for Outstanding Supporting Female Performer. Chelsea Bebermeyer and Courtney Fast were both presented an award for their behind-the-scenes work, and Caitlin Reimer received a Jester Award for her outstanding lobby display.
