Area piano students play at district evaluation event

Area students participated in the District 6 Kansas Music Teachers Association Music Progres­sions at Bethel College in North Newton, April 22.

This annual test provides a musical event evaluating the progressive of all students—those studying music as a hobby or those wishing to be professional musicians.

In addition to performing on the piano, each student is tested in areas of listening, keyboard theory and written theory.

The adjudicators were Paige Cress, Wichita, and Sheila Litke, Hillsboro.

Newton Music Teachers Association and area piano teachers involved in this event were Karla Conner, Newton; Carol Klingenberg, Peabody; Sheila Litke, Hills­boro; Judith Mace, Newton; Beverly Richards, Hillsboro; and Faith Wenger, Hesston.

Students participating from this area were Maleiah Bartel, Katherine Hett, Anna Hurst, John Jantzen, Makayla Klingenberg, Halle Krehbiel, Joey Lapp, Devin Miller, Ethan Schrag, Ashley Unruh, Natalia Varpness and Kiyah Zhuang.
