The Kansas Department of Education has released its Standard of Excellence results based on 2010 testing in the areas of reading, math and science.
The six school districts in the Free Press distribution area achieved a total of 83 awards.
The Standard of Excellence is awarded at the grade and building levels. The ratings are based on a specified minimum percentage of students who receive ?exemplary? scores and a maximum percentage who test in the ?academic warning? area.
Those percentages vary among grade levels as well as the academic subject.
For high school, 11th grade is the only cohort group for reading, math and science. High school students can take their assessment in these areas prior to the 11th grade, but the score is ?banked? until the student reaches 11th grade.
