870 students visit Ag Awareness Day

The Marion/Florence FFA Chapter hosted its annual FFA Ag Awareness Day Thursday, at the Marion football stadium.

They invited the third graders from Marion and Hillsboro elementary schools. about 870 students participated.

FFA members organized and presented rotational sessions about farming practices involving agricultural equipment, safety and animal agriculture.

FFA members making presentations included Sean Buchanan and Zac Lewman (mower safety), Jessie Taylor and Dakin Ledford (sheep), Jacob Cope and Aaron Molleker (hay balers), Clark Kroupa and Christian Larson (tillage equipment), Cara Martin, Cody Carr and Eval Slater (horses), Ericka Herzet and Montana Percell (entomology), Corey Shields and Caitlyn Maloney (poultry), Nick Meyer and Clint Kroupa (combines), Colton Jeffrey and Derrick Dvorak (swine), Katey Ehrlich and Kelli Hess (goats), Adam Cope (beef cattle), Kaitlyn Frese and Amanda Stuchlik (poison awareness) and Lauren McLinden, Alicia Maloney and Abbey Smith (ag trivia).

The FFA chapter also organized a petting zoo for the students as one of the rotations.

Cooperative Grain & Supply and Prairieland Partners helped with making presentations or supplying equipment for the presentations.
