130 to receive degrees at TC commencement

One hundred and thirty students will receive degrees with the 98th graduating class of Tabor College on Saturday at a 10 a.m. service in the college gymnasium.

A band concert will precede commencement at 9:15 a.m.

The commencement address will be presented by Larry W. Nikkel, former president of Tabor College, who served for nine years before retiring at the end of last year.

Nikkel?s speech, titled, ?A Planned Life, A Prepared Life,? will focus on the need for graduates to plan for the future, while making room for God?s perfect plan.

?It?s important for us to live a prepared life which allows us to be able to respond to God?s plan for our lives as that plan becomes clear,? Nikkel said. ?Graduates need to understand that in order to live successfully, they need to be prepared to live out God?s plan as it is revealed to them.?

Eighty-seven students who attended classes at the Hillsboro campus will receive bachelor of arts degrees. Of the 43 graduates from Tabor College the School of Adult and Graduate Studies in Wichita, 19 will receive bachelor of science degrees, and 24 will receive bachelor of science in nursing degrees.

Students in the graduating class include one from Gambia and one from Japan.
