n Local school districts in Marion County have the opportunity to implement a new program called Bully-Proofing Your School. Peabody-Burns USD 398 is the first school district in the county to implement the program.
n John Fast has been hired as the new superintendent for Goessel schools. He succeeds Chet Roberts, effective at the end of the fiscal year. Fast will retain kindergarten through sixth-grade principal duties.
n Tabor College men?s basketball team defeated Friends University 66-61 in the semifinals of the post-season KCAC tournament. With the win, Tabor advanced to the championship game against Sterling.
n Marion County Clerk Carol Maggard told county commissioners that December sales taxes, collected in January and distributed in February, totaled more than $45,000 for the county, compared to about $38,400 a year ago.

n More than 850 people attended a benefit supper for Gary and Dennis Frantz, a father and son who both are undergoing treatment for cancer. The event was at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church.
n About 30 parents and other community members were invited to participate in a Unified School District 410 board planning session scheduled for March 26-27. The sessions will be led two consultants from outside the district.
n The Hillsboro swimming pool committee decided last Wednesday to recommend construction of a new outdoor pool for the community.
n The Administration Building at Tabor College will bear the name of H.W. Lohrenz, the college?s first president who served from 1908 to 1931, according to recent action taken by the college?s board of directors.
n Not only did Hillsboro High School complete arguably its most successful boys? basketball season in school history, but it capped what has been the most successful decade of Trojan basketball. Through the 1990s, Hillsboro boys? teams rolled up 202 wins and only 44 losses, a winning percentage of 82.1.
