Since my kids get to talk about Joel, I decided I get to do the same.
I can still remember the first time I met him. I was working as the secretary at First Mennonite. A friend introduced him to me as the person who knew everything and the one I needed to always ask for help. Wow. Truer words have never been spoken.
The more I got to know him, the more I realized there was nothing he didn’t know. And if he didn’t know something he would google it and find out. He became my go-to guy for everything. (My kids neglected to mention that he fixed windows they broke and other things.)
He has also been a mentor and father figure to me. My dad was actually a lot like Joel. Joel’s bday is Jan. 12 and my dad was born on Jan. 21 of the same year. And like Joel, my dad always worked in the print industry.
But my dad died when I was five so I never really got to learn all about his work. So Joel has taught me a lot of it. And I think Joel and I have had a lot of the talks my dad and I would have had which is pretty cool.
I should probably stop now since he is going to be so embarrassed by this whole thing. But I just had to brag on him for a minute.
