I told my physical therapist Friday that I went water skiing during the week but that it was really hard to ski with using just one arm. She didn?t believe me either.

I don?t know if this has ever happened to you but I thought I saw the image of the king of spades likeness in my Frosted Mini Wheats.

I am a fan of newspapers from the old days. A friend brought by a copy of a 1969 Star-Journal the other day.
The pages were 17 inches wide with eight columns across. Balzer-Lange was advertising four new tires for $100. Betty?s Cafe had a turkey dinner with all the trimmings for $1.50. Paul & Ray?s offered bananas for 11 cents a pound.

Bud Bruce, my mentor and former boss when I worked there years earlier, wrote a weekly column titled ?Hills Burrow?ing.?
One of the tidbits in the 1969 issue I saw was about a prosperous businessman who loved to gamble. He drove to Las Vegas in a fine $15,000 white Cadillac and rode home a few days later in a $55,000 Greyhound bus.

I?m glad I have an electric toothbrush in my left-handed days. Using the conventional kind of toothbrush would be like rubbing your stomach with one hand and rubbing your head with the other, which is extremely hard to do.

You can?t trust politicians. Kansas state sales tax was supposed to go back to 5.7 percent a few years ago and it only went down to 6.15 percent. Now it is back up to 6.5 percent. That makes Hillsboro at 9 percent and a few other cities even higher come July 1. Folks, that is almost 10 percent.

Our tax system is all messed up because of breaks to this group and that group. It needs to be scrapped and redesigned from scratch.
The longer they fiddle with the tax system, the more goofed up it becomes. It almost begs for the flat tax system that has been proposed in recent years.
?
Why not tax consumption? The more you spend, the more you pay. Since businesses collect tax for free for the government anyway, the collection system is already in place. No tax evasion is possible and there would be no need for the IRS.

Something has happened to my hearing. I have been told crickets are chirping outside our window and I cannot hear them. They must be at a frequency that all of that loud music I listened to in my youth destroyed.

This may be a first at our house. Today was June 21, which was the first day this season that we ran our sprinklers.
