We have been looking for a house here in town from about the first day we moved into our apartment in downtown Hillsboro more than 12 years ago.
We even considered buying a lot and building one when the perfect house didn?t seem to pop up. And when nothing turned up in either category, we kind of gave up for a time.
?
That was until Nancy?s mom started talking about moving to an apartment someday. So then we thought it might be neat to own that house someday. We mentioned the idea to our kids and they thought it was a great idea.
?
That was the middle of July. This past weekend we moved Nancy?s mom into her Park Village Congregate apartment. Our move won?t happen until later this year as there is too much going on right now.
?
It was hot and humid for the move day. Kind of like a day when I?d want to dress in a suit and tie and stand out in the sun.
?
We moved a few things earlier last week. The main entrance door into the Park Village building locks after a certain time. Since I was moving some things by myself at the time, I had to deal with the doors myself.
Thankfully, a nice group of women were sitting outside the door while our operation was underway. One of them used her cane to open the handicapped accessible door, but that didn?t take care of opening the next door.
On a table inside were some cucumbers, which I presumed were for anyone to take. I hope no one thought using one for a doorstop was wrong.

My brother and I haven?t been to a football game together for years, so we decided to attend the Oklahoma vs. Kansas game Oct. 19. The tickets came last week.
We?ll meet at the stadium, but we don?t know when the game starts yet. I hope it isn?t early in the day so I can do the Great Pumpkin race again in the morning before I leave.

Speaking of football, what happened to the Wildcats? North Dakota State did to the Wildcats what the Wildcats used to do to everybody else they played last year?and many times before that.
?
Success has already begun at the high school level with the Trojan volleyball team winning its preseason tourney at home.
I am really looking forward to the opening football game this Friday night between Hillsboro and Lyons.

Next week our newspaper will have a new look. Our printer in Valley Center has installed two new presslines, which will give us the capability to add a lot more color to our product.
The width of our paper will now be the same as most area weekly and daily newspapers. It also gives us many more options with our tabloid sections. Let us know what you think.

Some of you may remember the antics of Super Dave Osborne and all of his goofy stunts on television back in the ?80s. I still laugh when I think about some of his cockamamie stunts. One involved him falling off of the space needle into a parking lot. Many of the stunts are captured on YouTube. Just google his name.
